======================================
Little Miss E has done a lot of growing over the last couple of years. She has defied all odds and has proven a lot of people wrong. Born at 26 weeks, no one really expected for her to live, much less, to turn out ‘normal’. Yes she has a trach because of complete tracheal rings (birth defect) and scar tissue caused by being a premie and needing to be intubated (life support). But she really is your typical 8 year old, might even be a tad smarter and definitely more mature than other kids her age
She recently had an LTR with the rib graft done. She’s currently waiting for a new type of trach called a t-tube.
Miss E is doing all the things other 8 year olds do (even aggravating her siblings)! She can hear just fine and isn’t ‘mentally handicap’ like others want to label her as. She knows how to use medical equipment, change her own trach, and even taught me (and nurses too) how to hook up and use a ventilator (which is long gone now!) Can your kid do that?? haha j/k!
She talks and talks and talks, but what can I say, she’s an Ormeo? It cracks her up when people talk really loud and slow to her when they first meet her. She’s not deaf people! (She gives them a look then rolls her eyes at me but yet won’t correct anyone.) And definitely not mute even though she may not want to say much when she first meets someone. But TRUST ME, she is NOT mute….spend a few minutes with her in the car and I’m sure you’ll see…no, I mean ‘hear’, what I’m talking about!
So what does God have in store for our Little Miss??? A lot, I’m sure…what exactly, I’m not sure. She says she wants to be a doctor when she grows up tho!
