A Pre-Spring Break

Oh it was so nice to take a break from school right before Spring Break. It was Justin’s birthday so we headed down to see Mickey. Perfect weather but wow I guess everyone else wanted to celebrate Justin’s birthday too? That place was crazy crowded! I’m surprised that people actually get in line even though the signs say 140 minute wait…and majority of the time the lines stayed like that. My kids complain if they stand in line for more than 5-10 minutes hahah

It was fun but still lonely without hubby/daddy to complete our trip. So the kids and I decided that he has to come with us next time!

Jungle Vacation 2010

God made a way and allowed for us to spend a week together as a family….in the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight!

This was our first family vacation that was non-weekend and non-California related (and we’ve been married 13 years!). Usually we have the opportunity to take a weekend or overnight trip here and there or our California family sends us there for a a visit. This vacation was definitely not like the others. It was such a great week that we did not want it to end. I never thought I’d be that sad to come home. (Enzo cried in his sleep for a while too. I think he got use to being together all week.)

I’ve got so many photos to catch up with because the last few weeks have been packed with family time! So I’ll definitely update this blog with more family stuff soon.

This vacation was a tremendous blessing! Definitely not something we would have been able to do on our own. So for those that God used to make it possible for our adventure…THANK YOU!

Disney + GFCF Diet = AWESOME!

I was so worried about trying to stick with Enzo’s GFCF diet while out of town. Even though everywhere I’ve read, people have said that Disney is the best place to be while on the diet. However they did strongly recommend to contact Disney a couple of weeks ahead of time so they can walk you through it and to make sure at least one dining area can accomodate your needs. Well I didn’t have a couple of weeks and I didn’t call. So when it was lunch time, we found a fast food place (we’re talking greasy burgers and all the good stuff) to ask if they at least have a fruit cup or anything packaged just to fill Enzo’s belly. They called one of the managers over and she said they have substitutes for everything and will cook it any way we needed! WOW…well this lady pulls out a notebook that has every ingredient listed for everything on their menu PLUS a list of additional GFCF items they carry!

So after asking me what we’d like, this lady walks me to the register and orders for us…then they prepare the GFCF food in a separate kitchen. The food items are placed in CLOSED containers, I guess they are really careful about any kind of contamination. One of the staff from the special kitchen walks it to your tray. It was awesome! Definitely the easiest order I’ve ever done for Enzo…it must have tasted pretty good too because Enzo gobbled it up!

12 years later…

God has truly blessed our family….If you would have asked us 12 years ago what we thought our family would look like, never in our wildest dreams would we have ever pictured our life to look like this.

After12 (6) After12 (7)

After12 (4) After12 (5)

After12 (19) After12 (8)

After12 (11) After12 (25)

After12 (23)

It’s been a crazy ride, far from easy – definitely interesting, but God chose “us” to bless with this life!  I can’t believe God thinks we can handle 3 “articulate” and “independent” kids (we’re honored, really!)…I’m sure my mom is getting a kick out of this ;)

Thank you Lord for blessing us with 12 wonderful years.

Home Sweet Home

It’s been a slow week since coming back from vacation…jet lag maybe? The kids had a great time with family and tons of cousins, and needless to say, we’re not happy about leaving for home!

july3 (4)

I’ve forgotten how claustrophobic these planes make me feel…

july3 (3) july3 (2)

The kids, on the other hand, were content as can be. Who wouldn’t be when you’ve got snacks, movies, and video games at your disposal for almost 8 hours straight!  See, not sitting my kids in front of the TV and video games all day at home has its perks!

Happy Birthday Weekend (3 months ago)

So we’ve been blogging like the Slowskys’ lately.  But hey, at least I got around to blogging about our trip that happened back in January!  Yeah yeah I know that is 3 months ago.  We’re blogging in filipino time?? haha

Since Toots’ birthday fell on a long weekend (MLK weekend), we decided to surprise the kids  with a weekend trip to Orlando and Sea World.  It was pretty easy to pull off, well ok, so not really…We packed clothes after the kids had gone to bed and we WERE going to load up E’s equipment in the morning before the kids got up.  But of course we over slept and Ethan got up before we did (I think he was on to us anyway!)

So Ethan sees our opened suitcase in the living room along with a stash of E’s medical equipment.  So he already knows something’s up because we can’t go anywhere without E’s stuff.

Then E has this horrified look on her face all morning.  I thought maybe it was the excitement of it but umm yeah *BAD PARENTS*  She finally spoke up and asked why we were packing her medical equipment and wanted to know if she was going back to her old home….*ugh* yeah so after LOTS of explaining that no one was going anywhere without the ENTIRE family, even if we were loading up her medical equipment…she was ok.

This was our first weekend away since E has come home.  It was a really nice weekend!  We thought it would be hard without a nurse at night and just traveling with equipment, but it was really nice and easy.  It was a great break from nurses and workers too!

*I actually had a lot of pictures to post but my hard drive went belly up, so I’ve lost ALL my files…including 602 important files that I am now having to redo =/  Don’t ask…

Orlando – March 9th

So I’m lagging on uploading these photos! But yeah, so a couple or few weekends ago, the boys and I took an overnight trip to Orlando to visit TJ (my nephew) and to see Mama Michele and “e”.

It was a scary drive tho! That was the weekend that the weather was all weird. The sun was beautiful, the temperature was awesome, but the wind was CRAZY! But we drove down without daddy in tow.

TJ grilled steaks the night we got there, but goofy me forgot to take a picture! Esp since its the first time I’ve ever seen TJ cook up real food! It was tasty too…looking at the very few photos I took that weekend, I didn’t get any pix of the boys with TJ….hmm ok we’ll have to visit you again TJ! not so much for the pictures, but more for the steaks!

Ethan was waiting to leave or something, but no I wasn’t driving when I took this picture! And that picture of me and Ethan took like 14 tries just to get part of my face in it!

This is our “e”! Ethan took this pix of her.

“e” is such a girl! If you look at that last picture, she’s looking at herself in the mirror. haha

Enzo was exhausted after a fun filled afternoon with his Ate “e”! (Ate is ‘older sister’ in tagalog)

What a tangled web we've weaved

Ok so we fibbed, just a little.  We didn’t quite go to “New York”…but our trip was a surprise!  Papa Egg knew we were coming, but it was a surprise for everyone including Ethan!  But Ethan’s not 3 anymore so it makes it harder to keep surprises from him.

Fib #1 – Ethan had to know we were going on vacation and taking a plane, so we panic and threw out “New York”

Fib #2 – Ethan sees our itenary and wonders why our destination says, Ontario, so we say that we’re landing in Ontario, Canada since it’s ‘close’ to New York….Note to self: Next time check the map!

We did soooooo well too!! It’s either Ethan is very gullible and trust everything we tell him, or we are good ‘fibbers’. Even the flights cooperated with our little lie! When the plane landed, usually they say welcome to whatever city and state you landed in, but all the said was “Welcome to Ontario!” How cool is that???

Fib #3 – As we’re walking towards the baggage claim, they have posters that say California but i quickly walk in front of them hoping Ethan doesn’t notice (and he didn’t). Then Ethan and Justin looks around and airport and says that it looks like the California airport that he’s been to. So I proceed to say that it even looks like Jacksonville Airport! Yeah right! Anyone that has seen both, knows that it’s not even close!

I wish we had a camera because even as we’re getting our luggages, Ethan had no clue! Papa Egg snuck up behind him with his face covered in his jacket and says “I thought you’re going to New York!” Ethan jumps back and screams and people are looking at us like we’ve lost it! It was so funny!

But the lies don’t end there, that’s just half of it….so of course the Ormeo household (in California) has no idea what is about to hit their home. The Friday we left Jacksonville was also Toots birthday and they were trying to call him all day, but since we’ve been on the plane, our phones have been off most of time.

Fib #4 – To get Jan to clean up his room since he always gives up his room for us (Thanks mucho Jan!). Papa Egg had to tell him the truth but tells Mama that he wants Jan to clean up for the pastors that are coming to visit them in February (clean up in January?!?! ahaha So they were wondering why he was flipping out so soon).

Fib #5 – To have Mama prepare dinner, Papa Egg tells her that he has a staff meeting and they will come over for dinner when they are done (at 11:30pm??) But she’s a good pastor’s wife and doesn’t question timing, so she prepares a huge dinner with lots of yummies!

While she’s hanging out in the kitchen, Ethan sneaks up from one side of the kitchen and Enzo comes from the other side. Well, Justin trips over Ethan so they never quite made it in the kitchen just outside the door of it, then Enzo and I come out…I think it took her a second to register who she’s seeing, then she starts screaming while looking at Enzo (who is by this time holding my shirt for dear life) and then screams even more when Ethan finally makes it in the kitchen.

It was sooooo funny to watch her! She was so excited to see her boys….she was screaming for a couple of minutes and squeezing the boys before she finally caught her breath!

Ethan ran upstairs to Tadit’s room and he just stands by her door because she was already asleep. She thought she was dreaming and kept asking Ethan how he got there. But finally got up when she realized she wasn’t dreaming….

Then there was Mommy Ging who was sleeping and came downstairs to find out what all the commotion was…..

Whew! That was tiring…I wish we had the camera to capture all that! So here we are at the middle of our trip…it has been great so far! The boys are having a blast, and Enzo has been on his best behavior EVER!!!! But he is homesick and he keeps saying he wants to go home to mommy’s home and he wants his bed….
