Thank-full Day 18

I’m thankful for a late movie night out with friends (and maybe a family member, who may or may not want to be exposed hahaha). I’ve always made it a point to avoid the opening nights of all movies, opening week really. Somehow I was suckered into going and we had a BLAST! The line outside was crazy but because we were lost and had no clue what to do, we walked in to pick up our tickets and they told us to go straight into the theatre. Chatting and giggling with friends in the theatre for a couple of hours before showtime was a much needed break!

Guess who? ;)

ps. yeah so I’ll admit it…Breaking Dawn was AWESOME! I was a little disappointed they cut it short….ugh now I need to read the book because I’m not sure I want to wait till Part 2 comes out.

Where’s the beef?

It’s summer and I’ve actually gotten around to watching a few movies on Netflix. It’s a miracle! Well I got around to watching a couple of old movies that I’ve been meaning to and boy were they such eye openers. This could be why we have the previous post!

I am far from being a health freak and definitely wouldn’t consider myself the hippie health food type. However, after seeing the effects of food and diet on Enzo, it has left me a lot more curious about what we eat.

I knew there was a reason why I don’t like McD’s but the movie “Super Size Me” really gave me a solid reason for it! And it wasn’t just because of the health value of McD’s but umm I don’t do throw up and to see him gag and throw up because of eating that junk, I’ll never look at McD’s the same ever again…gross gross gross! Makes me wanna puke just thinking about it.

However, the movie “Food, Inc” was definitely very interesting! I thought it would be a ‘go vegan’ kind of movie or PETA rights but it totally wasn’t! The director/narrator even said his favorite meal was a good buger combo, super sized! So I don’t think he was trying to make anyone give up anything (at least not outright). The movie was very ‘matter of a fact’. It talked about meat and the farming process of it – as is. I mean, I understand with the high demands for food, these companies and farms really don’t have much choice but to some how mass produce and instant gratify people.

But on the same note, it really does make you think about the foods, meat, veggies and everything in between, that we use. Not sure exactly where that leaves my thoughts on meat. Last time media messed with my mind was in high school and we had to read a book that talked about the economy and slaughter houses. (I think it was “The Jungle” but not sure). That book really messed with me and left me vegetarian for almost 2 years. And I was the worst vegetarian ever because I hated all veggies except for broccoli and tomatoes. I don’t think I’m there but Toots’ diet doesn’t seem too bad after these two movies!

This Is It

We finally got around to watching it. It was pretty cool to see this musical talent! But I’ve got a confession to make…If I would have watched that in the theatre I would have been mad. Yeah there I said it…oh yeah I went there…. =)

Another Date Night

Wow I can’t believe we’ve managed to pull off several date nights sans kids the last few months! Very rare treat I tell ya…thanks to our fave nurse! ;)

“Inception” was really good. But blink one too many times and you’ll be lost! It was a lot of action and VERY LOUD in IMAX. I’m not a big action fan but I still thought it was really good!

It must be summer!

We don’t really hit the theatres too often around here but the trend has been to catch a few flicks here and there during the summer. I don’t think we intentionally choose to go during the summer but I guess we just have more time and more kid movies are out. Although I’ll be the first to admit that I’m content on waiting till movies hits Netflix.

We must not have done too many movies last summer unless I forgot to blog about it. But definitely summer 2008, we hit the theatre a few times with the kids. Well summer 2010 has hit the Ormeo household faster than we can keep up with. This summer we’ve already hit up 8 movies! Now that’s a record around here, that’s probably more movies in the last 2 months than we’ve ever watched in a year (at the theatre I mean)!

Marmaduke kicked it off for us even though it was just Ethan, Lizzie and I (Enzo was having a moment so Toots stayed home with him. Trust me, another post for another day…better yet, that probably deserves it’s own blog!)

Surprisingly, Shrek wasn’t too crude! Don’t get me wrong, Shrek movies are funny but they are more adult humor than what I’d like for my kids to watch. So when we hit up the theatre to watch it, I was cringing in my sit before the movie started. Yes, the story is more for adults then it is for kids, but I was really surprised and pleased that it was clean! (We’re very picky about what we allow the kids to watch…oh well!)

The kids loved Karate Kid! Although I think Enzo just liked it because it’s a kid fighting. It was cute but c’mon the love story between 12 year olds??? PUHHHLEEEEEEZZZZZEEEEEE!

Last Airbender was reserved for Ethan’s Dad Date…besides I think it may be a little much for the Little Ormeo’s. Actually, I’m just glad I didn’t have to sit through it! =D

Despicable Me was soooooooo FFFFFLLLLLLUUUUUUUUUUFFFFFFFYYYY!!! Oh it was funny! I was a bit surprised though that Toy Story 3 had a few dark moments. Enzo wasn’t too thrilled with Chuckles, Latso, and Big Baby. One night I said one of Lizzie’s dolls looked like Big Baby. His reply was “MOM! Oh great now I’m gonna have to have nightmares!” haha but who can blame him, Chuckles scares me too!

Can you believe we even got to watch a couple of movies sans kids??? Grown Ups was funny. I’m usually not a Adam Sandler fan because he tends to be a bit much, but wow he was so toned down in this movie. Ethan is still a bit bummed that we watched Eclipse without him. haha Sorry Ethan, we had to sneak in another date night without you kids, besides you were at Camp Dalisay!

I wonder if we’ll hit up anymore movies before the summer is over? hmmm we shall see!

2009 Movie Night

Guess it’s been a while since we’ve had a movie night with the kids. Ethan’s birthday movie doesn’t really count.  Ok well it does but we just haven’t done movie nights as frequently as I had hoped.  Maybe this summer we’ll pull off more movie nights with the kids.

Ethan and Enzo did get teary eyed when the siblings had to be separated (ooops hope I didn’t ruin it for anyone!).

Twilight

Toots and I finally saw Twilight the other night.  Definitely not what I expected, although I’m not really sure what I was expecting.  It’s definitely not the grotesque vampire movie that I thought it would be.

Twisted love story but I was thinking about it last night, Edward said he’s been around since the 1800′s and Bella is a teenager….that means she’s hooking up with an oldie…haha eeks

Ack! Why did it have to end that way???? Sheesh now I have to read the other books!  So if anyone has them and would like to let me borrow them *wink wink hint hint*, I’ll love you forever! ;)

2009 Movie Night

Things have been slow but busy around here.  So Sunday night, Toots decided to surprise the kids with pizza and a movie!  It’s been a long while since we’ve had a movie night with the kids, but it was a fun treat for the kids.

We’re getting old because we stayed up long enough to get pizza and refills for the kids and fell asleep till it was at the very end of the movie!  Sorry to have missed our dinner and movie night, but the kids still had fun!  I don’t think they even noticed we were sleeping on the couch…
