First, I LOVE my church! Second, its awesome that they had the opportunity to bring in Josh Wilson and Caleb (the Band)! Third, Josh Wilson has the coolest gadget on his iPad, the Square app. It swipes credit cards so you can purchase merchandise. (Oh! and he wasn’t too cool to help set up his own merchandise table! I think that’s pretty cool) Josh Wilson was really awesome but he has competition with his little gadget that I got to play with all night!

These guys were great! Caleb looks a lot like his dad, Steven Curtis Chapman.
Josh Wilson is such an awesome musician and entertainer! He was basically a one man band (well, him and his loop pedal). I LOVE LOVE LOVE his music and his wife is super nice. Did I mention I love his credit card gadget on his iPad??? Oh that was so much fun! We even had a lady make 2 additional transactions just so she can sign the iPad with her fingers. LOL

I LOVED his live version of “3 Minute Song” (he was awesome but definitely not as cute as this!) and to hear the story behind his song “Before the Morning” made me love it even more.

T’was a good day indeed! First of all because of what Christ did on the cross for us. But second because we had a great family time on a beautiful spring day! The sun and cool breeze was perfect. Marineland and a little stroll around St. Augustine was so relaxing and fun esp since we got to hangout with family. We even got in a little praise and worship out at St. Augustine. A local church out there had a mini-service/concert out on the greens near the Fort.
Marineland wasn’t too bad…definitely tiny. But the weather was just too nice to not enjoy it. I think they only had 3-4 dolphins out there (at least out where we can see them).
St. Augustine was such a nice stroll. It’s so great that our kids are all old enough to do spontaneous trips like this. It’s such a plus too that everyone is old enough to not need ‘stuff’ and that everyone does their own walking without having to be chased! woohoo!
is it ‘can’t hardly wait?’ or ‘can hardly wait?’ Sheesh I guess my Stanton education hasn’t helped my grammar hehe. That is why we homeschool our kids!
Oh Valentine’s Day can’t come fast enough! Every year, since very early in our marriage, we’ve always spent Hearts Day at home. I hate, err we hate, waiting in a crowded restaurant. Sooooo each Valentine’s Day is our Seafood Feast! ohohoh you don’t know how much I’m looking forward to my seafood goodness!
I guess this year we’ll have to figure out how to have our feast without putting Ethan into anaphylactic shock. haha ok it’s not really funny BUT for the past couple of years everytime we cook or eat any kind of shellfish around Ethan (esp when he eats it), his asthma flares, lips swell, neck swells, and throat feels lumpy/tight. Last year, after several failed rounds of steroids and 50+ pricks on his back, we found out why we were having these crazy episodes. And since he would prefer not to be jabbed with an EpiPen, I guess we have to plan dinner better!
Besides, I would PREFER not have to use that thing…you should have seen me and Ethan trying to practice with the trainer pen. You have to jab it to the side of your leg and quickly push the top so that it clicks…but ummm yeah took us both forever to use a trainer pen (it clicks and you feel it snap both for the recipient of the EpiPen and the administrator). Can you imagine us with the real thing???
Oh Ethan! Poor kid has to miss out on the seafood goodness he once looked forward to! Don’t worry Ethan, I’ll eat your share ok? and I promise not to talk or breath on you until AFTER I’ve disinfected my mouth. =D
*Note to self:
CRAB-LEG BREATH + ETHAN = ANOTHER STIMULUS FOR THE MEDICAL ECONOMY
Remember last year when we decided to have a Back 2 School Bash for the kids?? Well it’s that time of year again, and this Ormeo Family tradition is here to stay. Just like last year, we didn’t tell the kids what we were up to or that it was even time for another Bash, we wanted to keep it a surprise.
So after a slow start (another post for another day), we were headed to the beach! Fun in the sun always turns that frown upside down right?? RIGHT except Mr. Sun wasn’t making his appearance!
By the time we headed out to St. Augustine, it was time for another Florida afternoon storm. After driving around for while, we decided to park to figure out our next step. We didn’t want to waste the not-so-short drive out there! But God is good and He knew exactly what we needed to cheer us up and put us back in the mood to party! We ended up at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! where they had a 2 for 1 special for admission, plus a free Enzo, so we decided to drop in!
Our kids are at a really great age right now to do ‘stuff’ and we don’t have to chase anyone down or have to haul a stroller (although once in a while Enzo still opts for it and I don’t blame him, I would too if I could!). PLUS everyone is potty trained! The kids even got to commemorate our Back 2 School Bash with a waxed hand. Each one got a mold of their hand so we can all look back and remember how small and little everyone was!
First they lather lotion all over your hand and have you dip your hand in ice for 20 seconds. Then they repeatedly dip your hand in 140 degree wax until they get the thickness just right. Oh the kids loved it! I haven’t taken a picture of the finished product but Enzo did a peace sign, Lizzie signed ‘I love you’, and Ethan did ‘Rock on!’
By the time we were done, the rain had stopped. Outside the museum, they had a radio station with a few vendors with fun kid stuff. The kids were so excited to get goodies and balloons and they even got to play with djembes!
Mr. Sun eventually made his appearance so off to the beach we went! And the kids were so excited!
This day which started out so grumpy turned out way better than we planned! The kids had a blast, now we’re ready for a new school year. Till next year…

Last Friday was $2 Day at the Jax Zoo, so the Ormeo Zoo plus one took a trip in the heat and enjoyed a the day in the sun (which of course ended nicely with a torrential afternoon downpour). Actually the heat wasn’t too bad, maybe because there is a lot of shade and trees at the zoo.
Of course only my sensory overload child would be bothered by the sun and smell that the zoo had to offer! But he quickly got over it once we got moving and saw animals everywhere!
Every trip requires great tour guides, and these two were the best tour guides ever! Thankfully they weren’t too cool to hang with me and the “little” kids.
The weather wasn’t all bad for an August day in Florida. It was overcast most of the day, which I’m sure helped with the heat. The mist was still a great way to cool off, esp for Lizzie who usually doesn’t get to really ‘play’ in water.
After having lunch underneath a breezy spot, the kids wanted to cool off in the Water Park. Justin backed out because he didn’t want his eczema to itch more, so he hung out with me under an umbrella. Poor guy was itching in the heat!
Lizzie was so excited to get to play in the Water Park. She doesn’t get to do a lot with water because of her trach, but this water park had no standing water and no big splashing to worry about! Enzo was a little too excited that he had to sit in time out a couple of times for running. I couldn’t let him run because a few kids had slipped and fallen on their backs just walking or standing in place.
Lizzie and Enzo wanted to climb this rope ladder to the top of the treehouse. I’ll be honest, I really didn’t think they could do it. They both proved me wrong! They were determined to climb up like the big kids and the 2 Kuyas (big brother in Tagalog/Filipino) were waiting up top encouraging and coaxing them till they made it.
We all had a great time! Lots of giggling and laughing, not much whining! (Can you believe that?!?!!?) We can’t wait to visit again…

We wanted to hit up a farmers market this weekend, so we decided to check out the Riverside Arts Market. It’s an all around type of market – from food, handmade goods to your typical farmers market produce.
They have scheduled street performers but I think we missed most of them since we didn’t get there till an hour before closing. We did get to see an escape artist. The kids like that. It looked scary tho because the guy used a free standing tripod looking pole to hang from.
We were a little disappointed with the Farmers Market corner. We thought there would be more vendors and produce there. But really, it was fine and it didn’t take away from our day! This is also only the 3rd weekend since the grand opening. (We went to the ‘real’ Farmers Market after we left here but no photos there. They did have a ton of great deals!)
They had a lot of food vendors – homemade food, kettle corn, and even some of the small restaurants had a booth. I think they had more food vendors than they did other vendors. Then again maybe some of them packed up to go by the time we got there.

We had a great time! The weather was perfect and breezy, no whining, and even easy parking! It’s so much smoother (and nicer) to get out with the kids now a days. They are all getting older, esp Enzo, so they are much more manageable and cooperative.
We can’t wait to check it out again on another Saturday, but next time we’ll have to get there earlier.
A couple of years ago we won a family 4-pack tickets to MOSH. This was back when it was just the 3 of us. Well lucky for us, the tickets didn’t have an expiration date!
So a couple of weekends ago we decided to surprise the kids to a visit to MOSH.

On our way we decided to grab lunch to eat on the way there. By the time the kids were done eating, we were pulling into the parking lot. Of course Ethan had to have his ‘gag for excitement’ moment. Ethan was quick to say he wished he didn’t eat his lunch because he was going to have to gag because he was so excited.
We watched a Science show while we were there. We didn’t realize the show would last an hour and was definitely geared for bigger kids. The kids had fun tho!

Ethan volunteered for a static electricity experiment. They had him touch the mushroom looking thing – I forget what it’s called, guess I’m not nerdy enough
– and they put pieces of styrofoam in his hands and it eventually flies out of his hand.
Enzo volunteered for a static shock experiment but he had no clue what it was till he was shocked! They all held hands in a circle then the host joins the circle and when he connects the circle, they all get shocked. They did it twice, the second time around all the little kids didn’t want to hold hands anymore.
E eventually volunteered at the very end. They had all the kids gather around to see what happens when you put hot water onto liquid nitrogen. POOF!

They had such a great time, it was really nice to get out of the house with the kids.
On the way home from my sister’s house this evening, we decided to swing by McD’s for sundaes. We weren’t in a rush home so we pulled in to sit in the courtyard and just enjoy the beautiful spring evening that we so rarely get in Florida.
After ice creams were devoured, the kids were running around and playing with Ethan’s hacky sack. Not sure how the hacky sack ended up in the tree but Ethan somehow threw it a little too high I guess?? So Ethan was bummed but Toots’ figured he could toss a shoe up in the tree to knock it off the branch. Well after several minutes of tossing Enzo’s shoe, the hacky sack came down but without Enzo’s shoe.
So the adventure begins when Toots’ and the kids try to get Enzo’s shoe unstuck from the tree. Ethan offers his shoe since Enzo refused to give his only shoe left on his other foot. (Well his Daddy did get his other shoe stuck right??)

Well after several tries, Ethan’s shoe was stuck too. Oh it was hilarious. The kids were hysterical with laughter. Toots’ then figured that his shoe was bigger and heavier, so he tosses it up and it was STUCK on the first try.

I took these with my phone so they aren’t very clear, but it was too funny to pass up. As I look at these two pix, Toots must have gotten Ethan’s shoe stuck more than once because the first pic has Enzo’s and Ethan’s shoes apart. But the second picture has 2 shoes together and Toots’ shoe higher up in the tree.
After the 3rd shoe was stuck, they ran out of ideas so they went inside one of the stores that was right next to the courtyard and 2 workers came out with a long window cleaner and some kind of long grabbing pole. They were cracking up and couldn’t figure out why and how the Ormeo’s had 3 shoes in the tree. But the workers came to the rescue and got all 3 shoes out of the tree.
Oh my tummy hurt from laughing so hard. Only the Ormeo boys get their shoes stuck in a tree!
