First (Easter) Dress

I never thought I’d ever be able to make a dress for Lizzie, much less an Easter dress that she can wear in public! After searching the internet for tutorials and videos. I decided that I needed to keep it as simple as possible since I can’t really sew anything but straight lines.

So the YouTube videos and blogs lied. They said that for a simple dress like this, it would take 30 mins tops (15 mins for a baby dress). Ummm yeah..no! It was more like 3:30pm till almost 2am (off and on because I had to keep rewatching the videos and rereading tutorials and remeasuring everything). Oh but it was so worth it because it turned out sooooo cute!

We forgot to take pictures of the dress before and while she was wearing it.
But I promise it was all nice and ironed!

Another Mama Made Doll

Lizzie’s 8th birthday is tomorrow and so of course a birthday wish list is in order. Even after her special request for mama-made dolls last Christmas, I was still pretty surprised to see another request on her birthday list. Thank you Lord for easily pleased and easy to shop for children! I was even good this time, no procrastination here! Although when Enzo saw a new mama-made doll on her list, he pointed out that he requested a guitar pillow and his own mama-made boy doll for his birthday that I didn’t make for him. Oooooh fail!

I know she’ll like this one because she actually caught me making this but I told her I had to make it for someone else hehe. Besides, I had to steal her other 2 dolls for the picture.

ps. Wow, the lighting makes my wall look so…yellow! *yikes*
hmmm…Toots, honey…the bestest hubby out there ever. I know you’re reading this. Wanna paint the living room? ;)

Camera Strap

I finally got around to making a camera strap cover. I actually thought about buying a new strap, but I just couldn’t justify purchasing one when I didn’t really ‘need‘ it. So after looking around online, I finally found one that was easy enough (or so I thought) to make myself.

I totally LOVE the rough look of the ripped fabric, and I figured it really wouldn’t take that long to rip fabric and sew pieces together right?? WRONG! OCD people can’t just rip fabric and sew pieces together. So after 2 hours of fighting the rips and non-exact measurements, I finally finished my two-sided camera strap! (I wanted it two-sided because a girl’s gotta be able to change her mind)

* I forgot to take a picture of the finished product before reinstalling my strap *

Oli’s Birthday

Oh how sweet it is to be 2 again! Even sweeter when your momma throws you a Candy Buffett Party courtesy of Oli’s Pop Shop!

Oh twin seester dearest, you and your creative craftiness did awesome! Oli’s party was so much fun. I haven’t had that much sugar in a long time…the Ormeo kids definitely have never had that much sugar ever!

We were going to try to make chocolate covered donut holes made to look like lollipops, but neither of us had the melting chocolate so we stuck them on a stick anyway!

Your candy decoration were the cutest…yes, even the shriveled one – it actually made it cuter! (Hey we get at least 1 in every bag of candy right??)

** The reject candy is the shriveled balloon on the left, but it was still cute!

I had so much fun making this bunting! Actually, my OCD was in overdrive because of lines and spacing and letters, etc…but I got over it! I’m so glad it matches his bedroom too!

Hope you had a fun birthday Oli!

Her Mama-made Doll

Oh I’m so excited about the doll I made for Lizzie. She’s been asking for me to make her all kinds of stuff for a long while now but we have been too busy being busy! She’s been eyeing a few things that we’ve seen as we browse through blogs and Etsy.

She has been so patient and asked so sweetly for a mama-made doll. I finally braved it and tackled the doll. It really wasn’t so hard. Definitely a lot of fun to make! Well, except flipping the arms and legs, there has to be an easier way!

So check out the doll I made her (actually dolls, I was so excited about the first one I made that I had to make a smaller one but that didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped).

I decided to wait till Christmas to give her her new friends, so shhhhh! Everyday she asks me if I’m done with her doll. Poor kid probably thinks her mommy is gonna flake. =)

Lizzie is such a girly girl when it comes to certain things, that I couldn’t help but add a ric-rac trim for a necklace and mary-jane shoes to her doll. Oh and I even added dimples just like hers. Actually she wanted her doll to look like her so I made it with brown skin and made the hairstyle on both dolls to look like Lizzie’s. It makes the doll look so girly…just perfect for Lizzie.
